Low picnic setups, for a county that eats outside
Luxury picnics went from a novelty to a standing format in about three years, and Orange County is where a lot of that happened — beach proposals in Laguna, birthday setups on the Newport sand, brand pop-ups in Irvine, bridal parties the morning before the wedding.
The format is simple and unforgiving: a low table close to the ground, cushions and poufs instead of chairs, a rug to define the floor, and enough textiles that it reads as a room rather than a blanket. Get the layers wrong and it looks like a picnic. Get them right and it photographs like an editorial.
What goes into a low picnic setup
The table — $169.99
The Boho Picnic Table (Low Profile) is our low table, built in our own shop and sized so that people sitting on cushions are at a comfortable height rather than reaching up. This is the piece the whole setup is built around, and it is the reason the format works at all — a standard table with cushions around it does not.
Floor seating — $18.99 to $300
Low Seat Cushions at $18.99 and High Seat Cushions at $28.99 are the base layer. Above that, poufs and stools give the setup height variation, which is what stops a flat-lay from looking flat: Majesty and Nomad Nook Poufs at $49, Camel, Persimmon and Mushroom Stools at $68, Emerald Swivel Stool at $78, Luxe Ottoman Set at $79, and Lumière Modular Ottomans at $300 for a larger group.
Rugs — $159.99
Handcrafted farmhouse jute in 6×9 or 8×10. On sand or grass the rug is not decoration — it is the floor, and without it the setup has no edges.
Pillows — from $14.99
Nine pillows from $14.99, including the Capri Stripe, Azure Linen, Golden Weave and Desert Sands, plus a set of four Olive Green at $34.99. This is the cheapest layer in the whole setup and the one that does the most for the photographs.
The table setting — from $2.75
Plates from $3.99, glassware from $3.65, flatware from $2.75 and cotton napkins at $3. A low table is photographed from directly above more often than any other kind, so the setting carries the frame.
What a picnic setup costs
Published prices, so you can build the number yourself.

- Six people — one table, one 8×10 rug, six cushions, two poufs, eight pillows: around $650

Add the table setting at roughly $12 to $18 per guest depending on the plates and glassware. There is no minimum order, and a standard booking covers a 2-day rental period at no extra cost.

Check the permit first: most Orange County beaches require one for a setup of this kind, with a defined window for putting it up and taking it down. Practically, sand means the rug goes down first and everything else sits on it, and it means the wind decides how much of the styling survives past four o’clock. We plan the setup around the hour you actually want it photographed.
Parks and private gardens — Irvine, Yorba Linda, San Juan Capistrano
Easier ground, and usually easier access. This is where the larger twelve-person layouts work, because there is somewhere to park a truck.
Brand pop-ups — Irvine, Costa Mesa, Anaheim
Low seating is the format brands reach for when the goal is dwell time rather than headcount — people sit down, they stay, and the space photographs as something people want to be in. We handle COI and vendor paperwork as standard.
Delivery across Orange County
Our warehouse is in Anaheim, which keeps every Orange County beach and park within a short run.
Delivery is charged separately and calculated once we have the location and your preferred delivery and pickup windows — for a beach setup that usually means a tight, permitted window at both ends, which we plan to. Our own crew delivers, builds and styles the setup and returns for pickup.
